Niton is a snail monster wearing a nautilus-like shell. They first appeared in Monster Rancher 2 where they were somehow linked to Undines. Even though they are technically aquatic, Nitons can live out of water for several years. They are much faster in the water where their shells can't weigh them down, however.
Nitons have six legs--four that they use for walking and two that they usually use as hands, which makes them different from the Purimo species.
Nitons mostly use their shells for protection, but they also assist them in some of their attacks. They have powerful electricity-based techniques which they can channel through their tentacles. Disks sent over from Monster Rancher 1 will become Nitons.
Etymology[]
The name Niton came from the ammonite, an Template:Ns group of marine Template:Ns animals much like the present-day nautilus.
